For the Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA), Handbuilt designed a brochure outlining the Department’s identity, activities and financial report.
Our goal was to reconnect the content to Angelinos served by DCA. Pages of the book designed in advance were given to people in the street, parks, restaurants, offices, to hold and be photographed with. Images provided by the Department were laid out within shapes conveying the dynamism and energy emerging from the Los Angeles cultural scene. A strict set of colors and shapes were used to delineate the different parts of the brochure. The binding itself, singer-sewn, contributes to the feeling of a hand-crafted presentation.
