As this campus was updated with new construction, we proposed bold signage to officialize the students’ new entry point. The letters, deeply extruded, create dramatic shadows and reveal a bright yellow, best perceived at the angled view of a driver lined up for school drop-off. The hue carries around the school in a band that wraps the new building, providing shade and visual interest.

With the campus update, the grounds became a lot greener. Students noticed wildlife gravitating to the community garden and greenery. At pick-up time, many stories about Monarch butterflies, herons’ sightings or new blooms were shared. To chronicle this wonderful evolution of campus life, Handbuilt designed a set of tags that could be used as newsletters hanging on tree branches or nested in nasturtium flowers. This allowed the Garden teacher to update visitors every day on the tiny miracles they may have missed.
