what can expansion joints do for us?

anti-graffiti kit
Geddes Elementary
The elevator tower had the potential to become a joyful landmark on campus. To achieve this, we designed a series of repeatable patterns inspired by natural biological forms. These patterns were precut into mylar sheets, sized precisely to fit within the façade’s expansion joints. Combined with the District’s supply of white and blue paint, the system offered a cost-effective and practical way to transform the blank surface into bold supergraphics, and become an anti-graffiti kit for the maintenance team.
The project was later featured in the California Design Biennial, where we designed a full-scale installation showcasing the patterns.
